Just when we thought our week could not get any better it did and totally blew us away. We woke up to find out we were featured on CNET News, which was a huge bonus! Then we hit up the Digg Townhall that was being taped live at The Big Tent. I had the chance to speak to Kevin Rose and Jay Adelson. It was pretty cool to speak to the guys behind Digg, the site that inspired us to build Fling it Girl. I told them about Fling it Girl, they thought it was cool and congratulated me on creating it.

After that our group was scrambling to score some tickets to the speech. Just a few hours before the speech we had tickets in our hand. We have some great friends to thank for making it happen! As you can imagine we were so excited to be attending Obama’s speech. It is hard to put into words what kind of a night it was…all Mr. FlingitGirl could say was WOW. All I can say is that it was an amazing experience and one I am very thankful I could be a part of.

Fling it Girl conducted a poll recently on whether or not we should change that way users Fling It (vote) on submissions. The results are in and 65% said keep it as is. So going forward only registered users can Fling It (vote.) Thank you all for participating in the poll. It is important that our users know that we listen to them and are building Fling it Girl around them.

We have been selected as a Semi Finalist in this years Women 2.0 Business Plan Competition. The finalists present their pitch on May 10th in front of a live audience and a judging panel. Finalists are vying for a chance to win one-on-one meetings with some of the top venture capital investment firms in the world. We only have a few days to submit a video pitch for a chance to be selected as a finalist, so I better bounce and start working on a knockout video pitch!

My first official blog post…woot! Fling it Girl is getting close to launching and I am so psyched. If your reading this you somehow found out about Fling it Girl. For all the men who found our splash page looking for porn I hate to disappoint you but Fling it Girl is a social site for fashion and shopping. So where did we come up with using the word fling? My husband came up with using fling, we were looking to do a series of shopping blogs and thought that ‘fling’ would make for a cool new social shopping term. Fling is defined as a short period of unrestrained pursuit of one’s wishes or desires. I thought this was perfect when trying to get across the emotional state of mind women are in when they shop. When we see something we have to have, we stop at nothing until it is ours. Fling it Girl is the attitude that if you see something you love, own it, flaunt it, fling it girl!

We are working around the clock preparing for our launch, stay tuned as it is going to get real exciting!
