So we were at the Alltop/Kirtsy party last night and got a photo op with Guy Kawasaki. We dropped a Fling it Girl card on him and he inquired about the site. Guy really seemed to like the idea. He quickly had us follow him into his office for a quick demo and then he personally added us to Alltop Shopping spot 9! It was so freaking cool! The Alltop site, aggregates and displays the headlines of the latest stories from hundreds of sites and blogs in one easy to navigate site. You can see our cool Alltop ‘We’re Kind of A Big Deal’ badge on the site. We are honored.

Fling it Girl is now LIVE! We are in San Francisco as I write this promoting the launch at BlogHer. Stay tuned as we will be posting updates throughout the day!

Fling it Girl met up with the girls from Mom Road Trip last night for drinks as they made their way through Denver. Devra, Sarah, Meagan, and Aviva are currently in the last phases of their trip across America culminating at the BlogHer conference in San Francisco. A good time was had by all as they shared stories from the road. Everything from carsickness to “WOW there’s absolutely nothing to see in Nebraska” to very scary windmills! But the best part was that we were able to show the travelers some good old Rocky Mountain Love. Can’t wait to see them again in a few days at BlogHer. And girls drive it like it’s a rental!

Baby Fling is a site we put on hold while we worked on creating Fling it Girl. It is a cute site that is really fun to run. If you are a new mommy you should definitely check it out. It is mostly baby stuff but we do feature stuff for the 2-6 year old range.

The wait is nearly over, we will be unveiling Fling it Girl on July 18th. Our private beta went smoothly. We learned a lot from our awesome Beta Girls and Beta Dudes. We have made changes and have some great ideas for moving forward. We will be promoting Fling it Girl in San Francisco at the BlogHer conference from the 18-20th.

So my idea for the bacon contest was a bust, it was complicated, poorly explained and just plain bad. I apologize, I have learned from it and we plan to come out with a couple of cool(simple) contests when we launch. Simple a lot of times is the best way to go! New contest to give away the highly hyped chocolate bacon. Starting NOW: the first 3 people to leave a comment on this post will win the chocolate bacon. I may be biased but I have to say the Boulder/Denver area has some stellar Tech Women! The women showed up this weekend as Gwen Bell hosted some rock star events. Friday night was the Nintendo DS Lite party that was held at a sweet loft space in Denver called The Strategy Loft. It was awesome kicking it with tech girls while we tested out some games, including my favorites Guitar Hero and Mario Kart. It was an amazing evening that even included me getting in a intense bubble-gum chewing contest with Beta Girl Sam Harms. The highlight was at the end of the evening when we all received a DS Lite! How is that for a party favor!?!? Saturday morning was the Big Event for BWET(Boulder Women Engaging Tech) where we heard two inspiring women, Tara Anderson of Lijit and Laura Mayes of Kirtsy, speak on there experience in the “Tech” world. The second part of the session was Glam Your Gadgets led by Aimee Oelke. It was a fun weekend to be a girl in tech! If you are a rock star tech girl in the area and want to get involved BWET meets at 7PM every Monday night at The Cup. See you there! Oh and if any of you girls want to meet up for a competition of Mario Kart–it’s ON!

Meet Beverly an artist who gives jewelrymaking a good name. It has been almost exactly a year since she launched her online website Charmedseed Jewelry. Beverly creates quality jewelry and believes it does not have to be over-priced to compliment current fashion. Her jewelry has a classic, vintage flair that I love. My favorite is her wordspell signature line. Beverly also enjoys sewing and even has a custom costuming service.
